The IV Eastern Economic Forum was held in Vladivostok on September 11–13, 2018. The main theme of the Forum is “The Far East: expanding the boundaries of opportunities”.

The delegation of INRTU, consisting of the Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Dmitry Savkin, and the Head of the Mine Surveying and Geodesy Department, President of the International Society of Mine Surveyors, Anatoly Okhotin, visited the Eastern Economic Forum.

During the forum, Professor Anatoly Okhotin held a series of talks with the leaders of leading mining companies. He stressed that the EEF is an effective platform for the development of business relations.

“The first persons of the largest enterprises were open to dialogue. Negotiations were held with the general director of the Kolmar company Artem Levin on the issue of providing engineering personnel. This holding unites industrial enterprises for the extraction and processing of coal located in the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The main activity of the company is the development of reserves of coal and coal deposits in South Yakutia, effective mining and processing of coal. The balance reserves of Kolmar amount to more than 1 billion tons of coal.

I suggested Artem Levin to establish business relations with INRTU. According to him, the company really needs mining engineers, and above all, mine surveyors. Our department, including senior students, may be involved in the production activity of Colmar. As a result, the company will receive adapted graduates from INRTU. The general director became interested in our capabilities and offered to form a package of proposals. ”

The format of the permanent presence of the miners from the Irkutsk "Polytechnic" in Bodaibo was discussed with the general director of the company "Polyus" Pavel Grachev.

The potential of the Irkutsk surveyors to implement high-tech projects, including the creation of digital assets for mining enterprises, was announced by Professor Anatoly Okhotin at a meeting with SUN Group Vice President Shiv Vikram Khemka. This largest investment group directs funds to develop the Zapadnaya Klyuchi mine in the Transbaikalia. The Department of Surveying of INRTU in 2016 completed work on the creation of a digital model of the area where this gold deposit is located. For the first time in Russia, the survey was carried out by unmanned aerial vehicles during the winter period, with steady snow cover. At the same time, a special technology was applied, which made it possible to obtain real marks of the earth's surface. Currently, employees of INRTU are carrying out surveying services at the Zapadnaya ‐ Klyuch mine on the terms of outsourcing.

“We have been engaged in servicing this field for two years and can offer the investor to create a digital model of the entire complex in order to monitor investment development and monitor the physical production volumes,” said Anatoly Okhotin.

According to him, the vice-president of SUN Group Shiv Vikram Khemka promised to consider this issue in the near future. Another meeting was held at the FEFU Engineering School. The school’s director, Alexander Bekker, invited representatives of the Russian Institute of Scientific and Technical Information to celebrate the 100th anniversary of engineering education in the Far East, which will be held on November 1.

On the eve of the anniversary, a seminar is planned on the organization of effective cooperation between IRNITU and FEFU using the advantages of each party. “The department of surveying is equipped with advanced equipment, in turn, the FEFU School of Engineering is well-versed in its rapidly developing region. And our partnership will undoubtedly be mutually beneficial and productive, ” said Anatoly Okhotin.
