ISM Awards 2026 are open for nomination

The following is a brief summary of all awards granted by the International Society for Mine Surveying on each ISM Congress. All nomination should be submitted to ISM Coordination Division before 30 May, 2026. The ISM Executive Presidium will review the nomination and inform the winners before 30 June, 2026. The awards are presented at the Closing Ceremony of the ISM Congress 2026. Only the winners who attend the ISM Congress 2026 will be ultimately awarded.

 

ISM Lifetime Achievement Award

The ISM Prestigious Contribution Award, sponsored by the 49th Presidium Meeting in 2022, recognizes ISM member who had made great contribution to the development of ISM. The purpose of this award is to recognize the contributions of ISM member and encourage them to participate in scientific and technological innovation and academia of mine surveying. This award can only be nominated by ISM President and Vice President.

 

ISM Exceptional Contribution Award

The ISM Exceptional Contribution Award, sponsored by the 49th Presidium Meeting in 2022, recognizes ISM member who had made exceptional contribution to the development of ISM. The purpose of this award is to recognize the contributions of ISM member and encourage young people to participate in scientific and technological innovation and academia of mine surveying. This award can be self-nominated or nominated by ISM President, Vice President, ISM Commission Chairs, and National Representative.

 

ISM Young Scientist Award

The ISM Young Scientist Award is established by the 49th Presidium Meeting of the International Society for Mine Surveying (ISM). It is given to no more than 10 young scientists in the field of mining surveying in recognition of their outstanding early career achievements. This award can be self-nominated or nominated by ISM President, Vice President, ISM Commission Chairs, and National Representative.

 

Eligibility for ISM Young Scientist Award

(1)The candidate is not required to be an ISM member but must be under 40 years of age.

(2)The candidate engages in research on one of the following topics

Mine Surveying Education and Training, Disciplinary Development

Digitalization of Mine and Mineral Resource

Mine Surveying and Mapping Equipment and Technology including GNSS, Lidar, UAV, etc.

Mining Subsidence and Disaster Monitoring

Ecological Environment Monitoring and Governance in Mining Areas

Land Reclamation and Ecological Restoration in Mining Areas

Sustainable Development in Mining Areas

Remote Sensing of Mining & Mineral Utilization

Mine Geological Environment Detection Technology

Underground Space Surveying

Evaluation Materials for ISM Young Scientist Award

(1)The candidate's curriculum vitae, including name, address and email, education experience, research experience, photo, etc (in English, WORD format).

(2)A statement of the candidate’s contributions and impact of academic research of no more than 200 words (in English, WORD format).

(3)List of no more than five representative publications (in English, WORD format).

(4)First pages of representative publications (PDF format).
